Trinity Travelers is Chapter 21 of the United Methodist Campers which has chapters in 8 states. Campouts are held each month, and activities include playing games, worshipping at area churches, shopping and eating (ots of eating). Membership is open to anyone who is a believer and who likes to fellowship in the great outdoors with fellow believers. Don't have a "rig"? Not to worry -- come on down for a day or a meal -- we'd love to have you visit! Many of the campgrounds have cabins available for those who want to attend.Six hardy couples braved the cold and rain January 7-11 and traveled to Leisure RV Park in Fentress. It was cold outside, but warm in the clubhouse as we played games, shared stories, watched the movie “God is Not Dead” and ate good food. Thursday evening we ate at Frank’s Place at the intersection of Hwys 20 & 80. Lunch Friday was at Cottonseed Café & Deli in Martindale. We do love to eat out! The sun finally came out Sunday as we were hooking up to leave!
In February we will return to Sony’s RV Park in Lexington. They have a really neat campfire area with several swings set up around the fire pit. There a couple of good places to eat in town and we have some new games to try. Hobo stew may be on the menu for Friday night!
Whether you are an old hand at camping, or are a novice at rving, we would love to have you visit with us – for a day, an evening or an entire campout. If you would like more information, contact Wagonmaster Ed Laundy at 512-718-2435.
We would love to have you join us!
About the Travelers: Almost 10 years ago a small group of enthusiastic campers from CCUMC organized Trinity Travelers, Chapter 21 of National United Methodist Campers. Since then, the group has grown from 5 member families from CCUMC to 28 families from 8 different churches and 5 denominations, with CCUMC still having the largest number of members. Each month we journey to a campground within 100 miles of Bastrop to play, worship, fellowship, sight see and EAT. We have “rigs” of all sizes, and the campgrounds we attend usually have cabins for those without a camper. Campouts are officially Thursday through Sunday morning, but members are free to come and go as their schedules allow. Those remaining on Sunday morning attend a local church before breaking camp.
Trinity Travelers is open to anyone who loves the Lord and who loves to camp! Many of the parks have cabin rentals available, so you don’t even need a “rig” to join us! We love to have visitors come and dine with us!
