Upcoming Activities & Announcements

  • Women's Sunday Bible Study:  For women of all ages, a new Sunday bible class will start on February 19th at 10:15am.  This group is for women of all ages.  For more information, call Debra Goodwin at 636-3517 or you can email her at dcgoodwin@austin.rr.com

  • How to be Happier 7 Days a Week:  Mark & Karen Gardner will host a new Sunday school class starting February 19th.  The class is titled "Every Day a Friday:  How to be Happier 7 Days a Week" by Joel Olsteen, and will run for 8 weeks.

  • Commitment to Discipleship:  Join us this year as together we make a commitment to discipleship.  Febrary 19th is Commitment Sunday Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service & Witness.

  • Ash Wednesday Service:  February 22nd at 7pm, in the Worship Center.  Join us for a special service of worship as we begin a season of Lent with this service of Word and Table.

  • Wednesday Worsihp During Lent:  Come and eat with us in our community meal, Wednesday at the Well, 5:45 - 6:30pm and then stay for Worship 6:35 to 6:55pm as we celebrate Holy Communion each week during the season of Lent starting February 29th.

  • United Methodist Women - Disciple Circle:  We will meet Monday, February 6th at 9:00am upstairs in Room 201.  All women of the church are invited to attend!

  • 4-H Poppers:  We meet on Monday, February 6th at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall.

  • We are seeking a part-time Nursery worker for the 2nd Worship service on Sunday and maybe some Wednesday nights.  Call Robyn Butler at 461-8581.

  • Bastrop Presbyterian Fellowship:  The Church Council met on January 16th, 2012.  One of the action itmes for this meeting considered a proposal for Sharing Sacred Space with the Bastrop Presbyterian Fellowship.  The proposal was unanimously approved by the Council.  More information will be included in the bulletins, newsletter, and Pastor Paul.  This fledgling sister congregation will be provided temporary Sunday morning worship space in our old sanctuary (the Chapel) for their worship service.

  • Financial Peace University:  A preview class will be held on January 25th at 6:30pm in Room 201.  Class sessions begin February 1st at 6:30pm.  Please contact Robert Jones or Brian Telle for more information.

  • Heaven is for Real!  The Brown Bag Group begins a bible study based on the book "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo.  Group meets Thuesdays from 10am untli noon in Room 201 upstairs.  Contact Roberta Laundy to reserve a copy of the book or study guide.

  • Guys Only Bible Study:  Meets every Tuesday evening from 6:45pm to 7:45pm in the Conference Room.  No books or homework; just lots of lively discussion.  Topic for Jan 24th:  What or Who is the Holy Spirit?  What's it got to do with me?  Previous topics include:  If God is a god of love, why is there suffering?  Does God lead people to temptation?  If God knows everything that is going to happen , do we really have free will?

  • Mops:  The next meeting is February 1st at 10am to noon.  All moppets meet at 9:15am in the lobby.

  • Youth Confirmation:  A confirmation class will begin on Wednesday, January 25th at 6:30pm.  If you are in the 6th grade or age 12 and up, and wish to join this group, contact Pastor Katy.

  • Youth Support Squad:  Calling all parents and adult friends of our youth!  We are starting a Youth Support Squad and we need your help.  Please join us this Wednesday, January 11th at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall to find out how you can get invovled.

  • Long Term Recovery Process:  If you are interested in serving as a volunteer in the Long Term Recovery Process, please take a copy of the UMCOR Disaster Case Management Training information sheet located at the table at the back of the Sanctuary.

  • Costa Rica Summer 2012:  Have you ever thought about going on an international msision trip?  Here's your chance!  Please join us for an Info Session on Wednesday, January 18th at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall to learn more.  The people going will determine the dates and final cost of the trip.  If you are interested, but cannot attend the Info Session, please let Katy know so she can include you in the upcoming plans and pre-trip meetings. 

  • United Methodist Action Reaching-out Mission by Youth:  The week before Christmas was abnormally crazy this year as we hosted the first UMARY Christmas Camp our conference has ever attempted.  The teams went out during the day and served in our community, working on several home sites that were affected by the fires.  With 43 high school students, college students, and adults living in the church for a few days, the typical CCUMC generosity abounded!  Thank you all for your prayers and support, we could not have done it without you!

  • Wanted:  Coats, Blankets & Sleeping Bags:  After volunteering with a local homeless ministry and seeing the need for warm coats and blankets, the CCUMC youth have decided to collect these items for those in need.  Please bring any used or new items to church with you over the next couple of weeks, and we will deliver them to the Open Doors homeless ministry.  Thank you for the participation and support!

  • CCUMC Food Pantry:  We need your help with restocking the pantry for the holidays!!

  • Bastrop Wildfires ~ How can you help?  CCUMC Disaster Response

  • MOPS:  What is MOPS?  It stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and it's designed to nurture EVERY mother with children from infancy through kindergarten.  It's a group of moms who get together to socialize, share the joys and challenges of motherhood, and support one another.  During the meetings, children are cared for in the MOPPETS program, while we play games, do crafts, have discussion groups, and listen to speakers on special topics relevant to motherhood.  We also have a Mom's Night Out once a month, play dates, and other events.  Your first meeting is free, so come and check it out!  Regular meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month, 10am - 12pm at Cedar Creek UMC.  For more information, contact Amy Miller at 817-253-9639, or bastropmoms@yahoo.com.  Visit the MOPs website as for additional info:  http://bastropmops.blogspot.com

  • Cub Scout Packs:  The Cub Scouts meet every Monday and Tuesday in the Annex buildings.

  • Girl Scouts:  The Girl Scouts meet every Thursday at 4:30pm to 6pm in the Fellowship Hall.  Jennifer Cagle, Leader.

  • The Brown Bag Bible Study Group and Senior Day Out group meet every Tuesday at 10am.  Brown Bag is upstairs in Room 201, and Senior Day out is in the Fellowship Hall.

  • Overeaters Anonymous:  OA meets every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the annex.

  • Tae Kwon Do:  Tae Kwon Do meet's every Monday and Thursday at 6:30pm in the Worship Center.

Do You Like to Sing?:  Come join us!  We have rehearsals every Wednesday at 6:30pm and sing every Sunday at the 11:15am worship service.  Wednesday at the Well meals will be starting up again on September 1st prior to practice.  If you have any questions, contact Barb Zech or one of the choir members.

Need help raising funds? - Wednesday at the Well:  If your church committee or group would like to do a Wednesday at the Well meal as a fund raiser for the Church in September, please contact Roberta or Ed Laundy or call Irene at the church office.  >>more information

CCUMC Food Pantry Ministry:  So many people come to the church seeking help for food.  Pat New and the Nurture Team started the CCUMC food pantry ministry.  The Senior Day outing on Tuesday is the prime source on keeping the pantry full.  If you have any extra non-perishable food items at home and would like to donate them, bring them to the office.  Monetary donations are also accepted.

Compact discs of previous Worship Services are now available!  To check a disc out, you can contact Pastor Paul or call Irene in the church office.

Children's Fellowship:  We are seeking volunteers to help with Children's Fellowship on Sunday nights from 5 to 7pm.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact Pastor Katy or Mark Clingan, Education Team Chair.
